last two books of 2012

I didn't think I would get done with anymore books, but I started The Magician's Nephew by CS Lewis Christmas day and I finished it yesterday.  It made me supere excited to read the rest of the Narnia series that has been on my to read list for a long time.  It is our book club book for Januaray, so I guess I finished early.

After I finished that one, I started in on this one. (the kids were watching movies that I have seen A LOT, so figured I would do something else) So I read.  Then I couldn't put it down and kept reading, finally exhausted I put it down only to get up and finish it this morning.  It was a fun little story, always fun to read a bit of clean romance.

Playing Catch Up!!

My goal for this year was to read 50 books, well I passed that, so I upped it to 60, I again passed that and thought, hey wouldn't it be neat to get to 70 books??  So these are the last 13 books that I have read. I know the year hasn't ended up, and I am in the middle of another book, so who knows, I may just get to my 71 book for this year.  A lot of these are Christmas ones, mostly because I have a huge stack of books to read and figured what better time than to read all my christmas ones at Christmas time??   It was wonderful, I needed the extra Christmas spirit that came with reading some of these stories. It was a hard year for me, mostly because my husband and I weren't able to spend it together.
Take a look at Goodreads and make a goal for yourself for next year in your reading!!!

Christmas!!!

It is the time of year to start watching your favorite Christmas movies, catch up on the new ones that came out, read all the Christmas books that you have collected and haven't read yet, do all the projects you want to do, decorate, make cookies, wrap presents, shop.  Man I am tired just writing this. Thankfully I have had a chance to read some of the books that I have been collecting, I need to get through them before we move next year, i don't wanna lug all these books with me. :)   I have some craft ideas that I want to do, one includes some coral and sea glass along with shells.   I better do it before things get super crazy around here and I run out of time.

We are reading   Chrismas Jars by Jason Wright for book club this month. What a great read and inspiring. Check it out and let me know what you think.

ahhhh.... I love books!

Lady Susan was a very scandalous book for the day, it was an interesting read. At first hard to read and keep track of the people.

These is my Words was really good!!!! We read it for our new book club and I am excited to read the next two in the series. About a girl who grows up in the 1800's in Arizona Territory, it is fun to see her evolve in the way she writes.

Of course I had to read a Debbie Macomber book this month!!! Another one in the series of Cedar Cove and of course I love it!!!

The last in the trilogy of Inn Boonsboro, The Perfect Hope By Nora Roberts. It was so good that I started it on Sunday Morning at noon and finished it Monday before noon.  So good!!!! I really enjoyed it!!!

I started out this year with a goal of 50 books to read, at the moment I am at 56, so I upped it to 60, let's see if I can do that. :)  Maybe I'll have to up it again.

Getting the crafting bug

I have been getting the crafting bug lately. I have made a basket and it is super cute. I am now in a quilt block swap for here with things that represent the island, so I need to get that done. I have felt the urge to keep doing more, unfortunetaly I look at my craft closet and cringe.  I have so much stuff in there and so many things I want to do and not enough time.   Eventually I will get everything done, or end up selling the supplies I have for them. :)  So the first task was to get through the closet without killing myself, next I am making sure I have enough fabric for the quilt project and then I need to figure out exactly how to do what I want to do. Wish me luck!!!!!!

a few more book updates.

yes, I had to keep reading this series. I am still loving it and I always find myself laughing out loud.

For years I have loved the musical and have wanted to read the book. Well this was my book number 50 for the year (which was my goal for the entire year and I finsished it in Sept) Very different from the play, now I know what my husband meant.  But it also explains somethings that the play doesn't, but that the play talks about.  I loved it!!

I also love this series, it keeps me on my toes and guessing. I should have known I would have liked these because I love to watch CSI and shows like that.
the 5th book in the series. Still loving it and the different stories that come from the Author.

this is an LDS version of Persuasion. I was curious, so had to read it since I just read the original. It was cute and has very differnt and modern twists to it.

My friends kept telling me to check out this seris.  They are so funny!!! I catch myself laughing outloud when reading them.  The next one is number 7, and there are 19 in this series!!! It is going to take me awhile.  But if you are in for a lighthearted entertaining book, these would be good ones!

On a side note, I have read 48 out of my goal of 50 books, started number 49 the other day.  Any suggestions on what I should read for number 50????

My latest round of books.

I love Debbie Macomber books as I have mentioned before and I am slowly working my way through her Cedar Cove Series.   I have the next one all ready to go, but am just trying to read a few different books before I start another one.   I read these two and still love the characters that are in them and the new ones with each book.

44 Cranberry Point

311 Pelican Court

I had heard that there was a movie coming out about this book, I put it on my read list from the library where I can borrow books for free,  my time for it came up so I read it.  Definitely a very different take on the life of Abraham Lincoln, it was entertaining,  but if the movie is anything like the book, I don't want my kids seeing it.

I have decided this is my favorite Jane Austin book.  I do enjoy the favorites as well, but from the time I watched the movie I just loved this one and love it even more now that I have read the book.   Makes me want to read it again, maybe next year. :)
This is the 3rd book in the series by Michael Scott.  Lots of action, suspense, new characters. I am still really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book.   Thank goodness it is just a click away to buy, but I am trying to read some of the others on my list before I get sucked back in.  Plus I had to do all the fun back to school mom stuff the last two weeks, so now maybe I can get a few minutes to read.

a few more books. :)

I have slowly but surely been reading a few differnt series.  Try to change it up a bit here and there. One of them is the Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich.  So far I have read the first 4.  They literally make me laugh out loud and my husband always wonders why I am laughing.  I love them.
The next series is by James Patterson, the Women's Murder Club. I finished book 3 and can't wait to read the next one. I love the characters and I also love that it is placed in San Fransisco, makes me a bit homesick for that area since we lived there for 8 years.
The next seris is The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flammel.  I am currently reading book 3. This one is book two. If you like Harry Potter, you will like these.  They again have San Fransisco in them, as well as many other cities that I have yet to visit. Paris, London, ahhh.... someday.

Charlotte: Pride and Prejudice continued is a book about Elizabeth Bennett's best friends life after she marries Mr. Collins.  I really liked it.  Have to wonder if that is how Jane Austin would have written about them though.
Snow White and Rose Red: the Curse of the Huntsman was a really good read.  You just never really know what is going to happen.  About 2 sisters, their village and coming of age.

I of course had to read some Debbie Macomber.  I got a news letter from her fan club the other day and my husband was making fun of me.  Hey, can I help it that almost all of her books are in Washington State and that even though they make me a bit homesick I love to read them?? Plus they are nice romance stories without all the explicit sex scenes in them.   This one was a short, an intro into her new book that comes out next week.

This one is the second in the Cedar Cove series,  after I finish the book I am reading now I will start the next book.  I enjoy reading about the characters and how their lives change and seeing new ones come in in the small town.
I have been doing the reading challenge for Goodreads.  I first started with 50 books for the year thinking that I would have a hard time making it. I am currently at 41 books.  Of course it has helped that my husband has been working nights and I needed something to help pass the time away.

Sunday, July 22, 2012

My friends have been talking about these books for awhile and telling me I should read them.  I feel so far behind since there are now 19.  They are funny and keep you on your toes.   I love Stephanie and her family, they are a bit crazy like mine.

This is a short story telling about what "really" happened to Joan of Arc.  Fun quick read. I have fallen in love with Michael Scott's writing and can't wait to read more of his books.

Another Short by Michael Scott, this is longer than the Joan of Arc one.  Talking about Billy the Kid who was made immortal and what he has been up to and how he ends up fighting Vampyres in Vegas.

Just finished reading the second book in the Inn Boonsboro series by Nora Roberts.  I love the story and the characters, I could use less cuss words though.  Not sure why people think using that langauge make things better, especailly in writing.  That being said I love the small town feel, the characters and love they show, the fun of hearing how the Inn is being put together and used.     We are actually discussing the first book at Book Club tonight.   Should be fun!!

A Summer of reading

I have been busy the last few weeks reading. :)  This one is a short story book, but really cute. Made me miss my grandma even more.    Along with the one  I also read these books :
1st in her Cove series. Really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next one.

Nicholas Flammel is still alive???  This one was fun and exciting to read, now I need to read the other ones in this series.

Fun twist on  Witches and Wizards and the society in which they live.  Kind of scary some of the things happening in this book that happen now.

I love Richard Paul Evans and this is the 3rd book in his the Walk series. I loved it and can't wait for the next one.

now I am reading my first Nora Roberts book for book club next week. So excited that for the club and hoping that the group meshes well with each other. :)
In kids books, I bought this one for my girls this week.  We love the Very Fairy Princess books and this one didn't disappoint!!!   It actually reminded me of when I was a flower girl for my aunt's wedding.   My girls loved it too and I am sure we will be reading this one over and over and over again.
