Blanket Donations

Colorado Cuddles from the Heart is a wonderful group of ladies who were brought together by similar circumstances.  All three families had babies born around the same time who had/have heart defects.  My sweet friend is one of those ladies.  Every year since their babies were born, they want to give back to the hospital that worked so hard to help their little guys out.  That is where the blanket drive comes in.  They take brand new blankets, whether they are homemade or store bought, in November they take them to the Children's Hospital in Denver, CO.    Every year I try to send a few blankets, but this year I was trying to think a bit bigger.  On Wednesday night I am going to the church and teach some of the young women there how to sew some blankets together to go towards this blanket drive.  I have 22 all cut out and ready to go.  I am very excited by this, teaching someone something as well as helping others by giving them a piece of home while in a hospital.  This is also close to my heart because as a little girl I was hospitalized at the age of 4 and from then on I got to see A LOT of Dr's. I remember volunteers coming in to have the time pass, I was close to home so I am sure I had one of my blankets there (I would really have to ask my mom on that one).  It is a scary experience for a little kid to be somewhere different, not feeling well and not knowing what tomorrow will bring.

Please let me know if you would like to send a few blankets for their blanket drive. I will help anyway I can, whether it is getting you in touch with my friend or taking the blanket for you and putting it in the box of the ones I am going to send to her.   Come on ladies, let's get our craft on!! :)

The Cross Gardener

I just finished this book. I have really enjoyed all of the books that I have read by Jason Wright, so I knew I would like this one.  It really made you think and brought thoughts and ideas for you to think about.  Now, you will need some tissue to read this book, but don't let that put you off.  Read it to learn something new.

I started a new book yesterday and am loving it so far, heck it talks about growing up in an apple orchard, that's right up my alley.  Sprink break is over and now it is time for me to get crafting.  What things are you up to lately???

The Son of Neptune: Heros of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan

I have been catching on my reading lately. I have bookshelves full of awesome books, but I was reading on my Kindle.  I decided to start reading the books I have around first (plus I like to read the books that my son likes to read so I know what's in them, and I also enjoy this kind of reading)  This one has Percy Jackson in it from the original series, but totally different companions for him.  Loved reading it, had lots of Roman mythology in it. ( I have always liked Roman and Greek Mythology!!)  I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Brandon Mull New Series

I started reading this series last week, I am on the second book.  At first it was a little slow for me, but it had to lay down a lot of ground for you to understand the books.  The first is the Beyonders A World Without a Hero.  About a boy who ends up in a new world in an uncoventional way.  The characters are well written and there are a lot of twists and turns that keep you on your toes.  Beyonders: Seeds of Rebellion.  The second is good so far, new characters and concepts.  I can't wait to finish it to know how this part of the story ends.
