The Goodbye Quilt by Susan Wiggs

I saw this and thought of my mom, she is an avid quilter that does amazing work.  Instead of buying a copy for 16 bucks, I headed to our base library and was amazed that they actually had it.  It is a quick read,  I enjoyed the story, but some of it was a bit repetitive for me.   I have never read any of her books, so I am not sure if it is just this book or all of them.  It was a fun read though.  Basically it is about a mother taking her daughter to college and the life chaning things that were happening to both of them.

I guess this shows you can take a beautiful picture with your crappy little camera.  Someday I will upgrade, but for now  this little ones does a wonderful job.

The Walk and Miles To Go By Richard Paul Evans

This new series by Richard Paul Evans kept me glued to the book and I can't wait for the next book to come out. A story of a man on a journey after he has lost everything.  The things that he incounters and the people he meets.  Well worth the read!!!!  Both of them.

Fourth Of July

I didn't get a chance to post on the Fourth of July, it was my husbands first day home from Afganistan.

We did however go to the 100 Yen store (like a dollar store in the states, but way better) and get ourselves some sparklers. (the base had done a huge fireworks display on the 2nd)

I love this shot of one o my sparklers.  I have to say that they are my favorite firework and I am fine with just having these.

Our two year old thought it was awesome and had a blast, as did the other three kids and the neighbor kids we had over. 

I want to say that I am so thankful for all the Men and Women who have served over the years for the freedom that we enjoy and for the real reason for the day of celebration.  I am thankful for my husbands service and even more grateful that he came home safely. 

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July!

PEACE

This says Peace.

On Saturday my family and I took a tour through the base of historical sites from WW2.  Our first stop was at Peace Prayer Park.  What an amazing place.  They have rows and rows of plaques with names of people who were killed there, including American's, Japanese, Okinawans, Koreans, British, Irish.  It was truly amazing to see that the people here felt the loss of all the lives, not just the locals. What a beautiful area it is in as well.

Happy Homecoming in time for the Fourth of July

I have been MIA lately, haven't had a chance to do much of any crafting, but that is for a great reason.  My handsome husband finally got to come home from deployment.  We have seen him 8 weeks since last August, so we are thrilled to have him home finally.  We have been exploring the island and trying to have some family time. I was thrilled that he got here the day before the 4th of July, so he could celebrate it with us.  Hope that everyone had a safe fourth of July!!!

Taking a break

After all those weeks of getting ready for a craft market, I had to take a break from my crafting. Plus the fact that I need to put all of my stuff away for when my husband gets home. (whenever that will be:)  So I have been cleaning, exploring different places with my kids on this beautiful island and reading as well.   Our library here on base has a reading program not only for the kids, but also for the adults!!  So I trying to show my kids just how important reading it, especailly my 7 yr old who seems to be struggling with reading.   I have lots of things I want to do, but have to put them on hold.   Soon a few reviews of books. :)
