Preschoool Goodness

My daughter is preschool age, but the requirments for her to get in here (without paying a pretty penny) are a bit ridiculous.  They did call us last week  saying they finally had an opening for her, but with us only having one car at the moment it would be very hard for us to do, plus the fact that she pretty much knows what she needs to for kindergarten (and the lady was rude when I started to ask questions, heaven forbid)  I just didn't have a wonderful feeling about it, I mean yes, it would be nice for her to be at school all day (but for me)  Anyway, needless to say I turned them down (the gal got really nasty after that), if I wasn't feeling comfortable about it, it was for a reason.  I have been working with Hazel on her letters and numbers and I started looking up a few other things to work on before she hits Kindergarten this fall.  I found this website:  http://prekinders.com/       check it out they have lots of great info and printables. I am so excited!!!!  I hope she is too!!

Engagement in Seattle By Debbie Macomber

Yes, I still love her books.  They are fun reads and heck, sometimes you just need some romance books to read. :)  Enjoyed reading these and laughing, plus the knowing where they are talking about in Seattle is even better!!

Only in Okinawa!!

Only In Okinawa will you find some intersting cars like the USS Enterprise.

Star Trek symbols everywhere.
Or can you find huge lizzards on a random building.
Or find such simple beauty???

Book Swapping Fun!!

Last month I held a book swap here at the house.  What you see on the table is just what I had here, some from a previous swap, mostly from my stash that i am tryin to dwindle down.   The thought behind these book swaps is that once I read a book I am usually done with it and wouldn't it be much cheaper to swap books with someone else, not having to go buy something new. Granted I usually go to the thrift shop here on base and buy them for very cheap, but this is also a fun way to meet new people.   After the swap was over, I boxed up the rest that were left and donated them to one of the middle schools here on base, they were doing a book drive so that they could have a fundraiser later on (a book sale).  Helped me out, I was able to let those who wanted to come and get new books do so, was able to get books out of the house that I don't need and was able to help out a local school. YES!!!!  So if you love to read, maybe think about putting together a bookswap with some family and friends and see what you can save just from this little act. ( we also have a group on FB for when we don't have a swap going, if someone finishes a book and wants to get rid of it, we post it and the first person who asks for it gets it, we also have lists of ebooks that people can share or post free kindle/ebooks for others to know about)

My cat of course had to help me, I swear everytime I have a box or open container I find him in it. He cracks me up.

A few more books and a movie. :)

My friend told me about this book, the movie was getting ready to come out and she wanted me to read it.  I didn't finish it before I saw the movie, but that's o.k., I still enjoyed it, and I think I liked the ending better in the book.  Funny, and you can relate with the main character, very good read.
I went to see the movie the other night with a friend, it was very cute and I enjoyed it, even if parts of it strayed from the book.  I liked the characters, even if they weren't what  I would have imagined them to look like.  Can't wait to see it again.
I read the Girl With The Dragon Tatoo.  It was intense and really good, kept me on my toes the entire time.  There is some cussing in it and adult themes, I wouldn't want my son reading it at this point.  I actually can't wait to see the new movie about it and can't wait to read the other books in the series.
